REQUIEM: To Remember

“An ode to Mother, so as to remember memories fond and dear.
And cherish them so I do not forget.”

A medley of prints sequenced to celebrate the life, love and loss in bouquets of color and proportion. Evoking emotions of nostalgia, innocence, and yearning with its array of hues, may this curation of florals add delight and charm to your everyday.

Exploring and detailing Memory Notes inspired by LIBERTY’s prints to bring this small capsule to live.

PEPPER

With its explosion of firework colors and micro-sized florals, Pepper is the starting point for the capsule story.

My very first memories are of playtime: cuddles, kisses, tickles from mom. It definitely is good to be a baby.

Memory Notes:

Delight
Wonder

HATTIE PARK

The field of flowers with its caricatured flowers brings to mind vintage cartoons from the 1930s.

One of my first hobbies as a child was collecting stickers, and receiving them from mom on Sundays was a treat I always looked forward to.

Memory Notes:

Nostalgia
Joy

BETSY SHADOW

A double vision of juxtaposed flowers suggests a vision of ghostly silhouettes, highlighted by the soft glow of astral blue.

The day of the funeral, everything went so fast while I was trying to make a mental picture of her, for the final time. Its still a blur.

Memory Notes:

Grief
Reminiscence

HAZY DAYS

Blurring bouquets as if the days gone by have made memories a blur. Details are no longer visible or discernable. Only the abstract remains.

As time stretches on, so do my memories of her fade. I scroll through my photos that I took with her so I can remember and cherish them.

Memory Notes:

Sentimental
Acceptance

If you have read everything thus far,

THANK YOU…

For sitting through my Memory Notes. To date, I’ve always loved to share each collection’s story, and yet I’ve been quite reluctant to talk much about REQUIEM as the inspiration has been very, very personal.

Nonetheless, it is imperative that I not leave this capsule’s context unexplained. And at the same time pay homage to the memories of mom, and my sincerest wish to not forget her.

Her love for flowers have somehow translated itself into my collections and each time, I find new ways to express these florals into an aspect of her.

As poignant as the title is, I hope the poetry of the selected prints will weave joy and add charm to your everyday wardrobe.

Sincerely,
Shannon
