FABRICS
As the truest expression of shirting making, majority of our concept shirts are made from 100% Cotton shirting. A natural fibre, Cotton is always breathable and comfortable on the skin. Moreover, it is also one of the easiest materials to care for. Explore our different Cotton-base fabrics and its qualities below.
-
This humble fabric takes form in many weaves and gauges. From the simple poplin to the complex herringbone, shirting is what makes a shirt, a shirt. The different weaves creates different patterns on the surface of the fabric and also gives it the fall and specific hand-feel, whether it is crisp and dry, or soft and supple.

-
Created by our Japanese mill, the shrink lawn is similar to seersucker but not entirely so. As cotton has no natural stretch, it is nigh-impossible to to get a shirt that is 100% Cotton with super-stretch capabilities without adding any spandex to the yarn. Using advanced Japanese fabric tech, the yarns are unevenly pulled across the weave to achieve a minimal stretch that is natural to the weave, whilst creating its signature wrinkled texture.
-
Once only affordable for royalty, this weaving technique is more commonly using in Silks to create motifs and intricate patterns across the surface in a multitude of colors. This same technique is utilised by our Japanese mill onto cotton to create beautiful monochromatic motifs that have the beauty of the Silks, but washing upkeep of Cotton.
CARE
Taking good care of your shirts gives them longevity in your wardrobe.
-
Cotton can be machine or hand-washed. For machine washing, ensure that the shirts are washed under cold machine wash setting at 20°C to 30°C.
Detergent and fabric softener can be added to the wash.
However, using bleach on your shirt will damage the fibres and cause it to tear with more wear.
-
Tumble drying will also cause shrinkage, so the best way is to hang dry your shirts under shade. We advise not to put your shirts into the dryer.
For the Japanese Shrink Lawn, we recommend reverse drying to avoid stretching on the shoulders. Simply clip the bottom of the shirt to a clip hanger, or drape the shirt over the hanger bar.
-
Set the iron to middle/warm setting.
For darker colored shirts, iron with a fabric on top of the shirt to prevent iron imprint.
Our cotton shirts react well to steaming and it is a good alternative to de-creasing your shirts if you’d rather not iron.
